Bream caught at West Bank Park, Lake Sidney Lanier, GA

Catch Date 08/09/2010
Kept/Released Kept
Location West Bank Park, Lake Sidney Lanier, GA
Bait/Lure NightCrawlers, small pieces
Description Caught a mess of little fish (16 brought home) for my dinner plate. Mostly bluegill, couple of tiny crappie that swallowed a hook. Also a couple of young aggressive little bass who also swallowed the hook. I hate to waste and wish to eat what I kill. If I could not send it back alive, I kept it. Threw back plenty of little potato chip sized little panfish and brought home meals for the week. Went to my favorite lake, Lake Sidney Lanier. Started at Lanier Park and was having a bad 2 hours with only 3 fish(2tossed back and one kept for swallowing hook), plenty of lost bobbers, hooks lines and a birdnest in a reel. Was alone so I used some bad language, packed up and headed to my most favorite of day parks, West Bank Park. Here I let went to work with my Shakespeare Lake/Pond combo hit with 6lb mono and a 4 lb fluorocarbon leader on a swivel. A #8 Gamakatsu Octopus hook was used. No bobber, just worked the seawall, dropping the hook over the railing and waiting for a tug when the clear water was just not clear enough. Threw back plenty of itty-bitty ones and kept the mortally wounded or those just big enough to eat. Tiny pieces of night crawlers, just enough to cover the hook worked just fine. The day turned around and I brought home some little fish. Now finding the thrill is gone from trying to fish for bass from the shore. Lovin' the action when fishing for panfish. - jacbrew
