Fishing Report for 06/16/2011
Kokanee fishing is still hit and miss with continued rising water levels of two feet a day. Some fish are being caught from time to time near the dam and through the narrows. Most of the fish seem to be between 20 and 30 feet. Most people are using some type of pop gear trailed by a spinner baited with Shoepeg corn or a worm. For smallmouth, use jerkbaits and plastics off rocky points and coves.
Fishing Report for 05/05/2011
Kokanee are now biting at Lucky Peak. It took a while to get a bite but we finally figured out that they were biting at a depth of 5-10 ft down. Had a downrigger with two lines (7 and 14 ft) and another line about 2 ft down. Ended up getting more bites on the line that was 7 ft down and a few on the line that was 2 ft down. Tied our pop gear to the downrigger weight that sat directly under the boat, had a green/silver dodger with an orange wedding ring and white shoepeg corn on the lines. This seemed to do the trick. Had an 8hp motor and trolled as slow as possible. Got about 10-12 bites within a few hours, landed two. A fun fish to fight, just be careful reeling them in because if they jump, they may come off. They were active and jumping just before sundown and it was easy to find a group of them.

The kokanee are biting with most fish coming from 25-30 feet. As temperatures improve the fish will begin to move shallow. Anglers are mostly using pop gear trailed by their favorite baited spinner.
