Fishing Report for 08/06/2011
I had just posted this report, but it is Spooner Lake, in NEVADA, not California. Hitting so many lakes that weekend had me confused. Got up early and hit this lake at about 7:30am. We had never been here before and heard they stocked it with tiger trout and also had brown and cutbows. There were a few people fly fishing the first bank so we walked around. This lake was very hard to fish since there is so much vegetation about 20 feet into the lake the whole way around. Spinners were impossible to use and fly fishing was hard unless you brought waders. This lake has a leech problem so waders are a must if you plan to get in. We moved to the first bank and were getting bites on power bait using a bobber but nothing took. We heard from a local a couple days later that he used a sliding weight and marshmallow power bait on the bottom and caught some tigers. This lake is surrounded by trees and is a popular rec area with great trails for hikers/bikers.
