North fork of the Stilly is producing. At least 10 steelhead were pulled out of Fortson Hole yesterday. Get there early in the morning while the bite is still on.
Fishing Report for 10/23/2010
I stopped by Blue Stilly park and then fished a few spots upriver to Haller Park. There are lots of big fish at Blue Stilly but don't expect to catch anything. Haller park is slow, but I did see a few 5 to 10lb coho being pulled out. They're swimming up in small groups now, definitely thinning out but still there. They're biting on green.

I fished the Stilly today for Silvers with Rustyfork for about 3 hours at Blue Stilly. I tried several spinners, Dick Nites and corkies but didn't catch anything. Nobody else was catching anything either, but another angler told me that somebody had caught a King earlier in the day.
There are some really big fish and they are very active. There are Silvers and Chum salmon jumping and rolling all day long. Most of these fish look about 5 to 10 lbs, but there are some big ones there as well, Silvers probably between 10 and 15 lbs, and Chum probably between 15 and 20 lbs.
People have been saying that green Dick Nites with black specks have been working, but they weren't biting today.
Fishing Report for 10/15/2010
Fished for a couple hours this evening. Saw a few fish jumping, but not a lot. As per many of my fishing trips this year, I had no bites and came home empty handed.

Fished the sand bar by Haller Park for about an hour at dusk. I didn't catch anything, but the guy next to me caught about a 7lb chum and somebody else caught a great silver. There were lots of salmon jumping, and some really big ones.

Hit the Stilly, again in search of those illusive Coho. River was in great shape after the much needed rain over the weekend. The flow was moderate, but not too high, and the coloring in the water was about perfect. Saw a few Coho jumping down river from where I was, and also saw a fair number of Chum, many of which were very dark. I wasn't able to hook up with any Coho today, but I did manage to bring in an ugly 17 Chum. Took me a good 15 minutes to get in, as I was being a little cautious with my 14 lb line. Can't keep Chum in the Stilly this year, and I don't think I would have kept this guy anyway...he was pretty ugly. I'm still hoping there are more Coho on the way, and hopefully some that will actually bit my hook. Good luck out there.

Saw plenty of fish today, just can't get any of them to bit. Talked with several people in boats and they all said the same thing. No one I talked to had caught anything. I wonder if the water is too clear and low? Maybe the rain over the weekend will help. It'll be blown out a couple days, but maybe after that.

Tried my luck for a few hours. Saw lots of Coho today. Just can't seem to get them to bite anything. I threw almost everything I had at them with no luck. Talked to someone who said the water was too warm. Not sure if that is true, or just a convenient excuse to not catching fish. Anyone got any advice on how to get these fish to bite?

Fished the Stilly with Swese this afternoon. Started in my usual spot near Dike Road...hardly saw a fish jump or roll. After a couple hours, we moved down river a few miles near Hwy 530. Saw a few more fish here, but no bites. Water quality is great right now. Just need the fish to show up and decide to take my bait.
Earlier in the day, my brother saw quite a few fish jumping, and saw a few caught by others, but by the time I showed up, the action was gone.

Fished the Stilly for coho with Superprep. We tried a few different spots, but didn't catch any silvers. We actually didn't even see much activity at all, just a couple lone jumpers. We fished from a bit before noon until about 4pm, I think we may have just been fishing at the wrong time of day.
Fishing Report for 09/30/2010
Fished the Stilly at the Eagle Ridge private access point, which is along 530 a few miles before Haller Park. There were 5 or 6 of us fishing there tonight. There are starting to be a lot of Silvers in there, the water was almost boiling right in front of me at times, and there are plenty of big ones at least 10lbs. Unfortunately nobody had any luck tonight, even with some monsters jumping around out there none of them were interested in our Dick Nites or Blue Foxes. Get ready Superprep, they'll be up in your neck of the words in a few days.

Fished the Stilly again today looking for Coho. Had a pretty good day. Ended up with 2 Coho...one that was 7 lb and another at 1.5 lb (yes, you read that right...smallest Coho I've ever caught). Not a ton of fish in the river still, but enough where you can find them if you are patient. Feels like the bulk of the run must still be coming, unless maybe this year they are just very spread out.

Fishing Report for 09/24/2010
Visibility in the water was very poor today...probably about 6 inches or less. But the good news is that more fish appear to be coming up the river. I saw several nice coho jumping today, more than I'd seen any other day this year. Give it a few days to let the river clear up, and we should start catching some fish. I didn't have any bites today, but I feel some coming this next week. 'Fish on' my friends!

I'd actually rate this a 2.5. The silvers are finally starting to trickle in. There were a few very large silvers jumping just south of Haller Park along the sand bar and a few were caught today. It's starting to pick up, but it still isn't great.
Fishing Report for 09/22/2010
Slowly Improving. The river has been high, fast, and muddy for a few days, but had finally settled down to a fishable condition today. Thought I'd throw a few lures and see what happens. No bites today, but there are some signs of fish finally. Saw probably a dozen or so during the few hours I was there. Definitely not ideal, but good to at least see a few fish finally. The river level is forecast to continue falling the next few days, and maybe into next week. Should have some good opportunities during the next week, assuming the fish start showing in larger numbers. Stay tuned...

Checked the river for Coho again...not a one in sight! Fished for a couple hours, caught and released a few small trout, and called it a night. Boy, I hope those fish get here soon....getting antsy to catch some.
Fishing Report for 09/09/2010
Hit the Stilly this evening to see if there were any Coho to be caught yet. During my 3 hours on the river, I saw maybe a half dozen either roll or jump...not what I was hoping for. Tried a variety of lures and holes, but no luck. Maybe next week the fish will finally be in.
Temperature: 65 °F
Fishing Report for 09/06/2010
Went fishing for the Silvers yesterday in Silvana with no luck. There was a lone silver jumping around for 5 or 10 minutes, but not the usual activity. Just before the Stilly opened up last week there was a small Coho run, but they're all still out in the bay. The river should be ready to fish in about a week and a half. Supposed to be a good run this year, let's hope so!
