Fishing Report for 05/15/2012
Done fishing for the night and caught a bunch of dink bass and a squaw bouncing worms and using a spinner! Had a few taps on the sturgeon rod but no set. Two guys up river had their line in the money hole and kept getting tapped over and over but hooked 2 5 footers!

I live in kuna so I tend to hit swan falls as much as possible and lately the river has been so low you can see islands I've never seen before! Gives you a heads up on where to fish! I found a nice deep hole just below the dam I would say is close to 50 ft now and you can actually bank fish it now when normally it would be impossible. Heading back out tonight! Anybody else fish this section much? I could use the company once in a while!
Bass are biting but I'm looking for sturgeon and cat!
Fishing Report for 05/10/2012
Water is really low below the dam and shows all the good holes and gives access to others that you would normally never be able to fish from the bank. Right now you can get right below the dam and down river is a 65 foot hole normally too swirly and fast to bank fish, but right now has great access. Caught a ton of bass and hooked a large fish on my sturgeon rod but never saw it and it was definitely not a sturgeon. Probably a cat.
Fishing Report for 04/07/2012
Fished up and down the river downstream from the dam, and with high water and fast flow at the dam, I couldn't get my weight to set well for sturgeon near the dam.
Fishing Report for 04/10/2012
Waters are high to compensate for the spring runoff. Sturgeon and catfished last night downstream from the dam. Perfect Fishing weather, had a small fire and gave it 3 hours from 9 to midnight but no bites.
Fishing Report for 09/30/2011
Caught a few fish in just a little bit of time, and caught a hell of a cat on a hopper fly with the fly rod dragging it across the water! Watched another guy pull in a sturgeon! Tons of carp jumping clear out of the water! Now just gotta get one on my fly rod!
Fishing Report for 08/17/2011
The water levels seem to be either be dropping or lower than what I know to be normal. I wanted to get to my sturgeon spot but just before I round the bend to my corner, the water looked intense and really rocky and I don't know the river well enough to mess around looking for holes. This section of the Snake River had huge undertows and plenty of rock and sandbars. Fishing was good though. But lots of small bass near the dam. I've yet to hook into any 12in +.

we were there for evening, smallmouth were hitting spinners like crazy
Fishing Report for 07/22/2011
Bluegill and bass are still biting on worm across the dam, on the river side. Caught only a few and decided to try the lake side up past the boat dock to see if we could catch something bigger. Threw in a few times and instantly got snagged on weeds so we left. I will probably try a few different spots the next time I'm out there

Fishing Report for 07/15/2011
Crossed the dam and fished the bank on the river side. Bass, bluegill and crappie were biting on worms on the bottom and using a bobber. A storm came in about 7pm but quickly passed and the wind died down. Had a good hour or so of steady bites. The groups around us were also catching bass constantly. It slowed down later in the evening and the bugs were getting bad so we left. We will probably get out a couple more times this summer.

Fishing Report for 07/12/2011
Rivers are back down to normal flows and the bass, bluegill and crappie are biting. The carp or rolling and piling up. I'll be checking out the cat and sturgeon fishing later in the week. I kept it simple with just a bober and worm below the dam within 20 feet of the rocks and just jig it a little if they are nibbling but wont take the bait. they seem to strike 90% of the time i try this.

Went fishing below the dam, which is still part of the Snake River, and water levels are really high with fast flows. The undertow currents were making it a scary boat ride for me practically steering my boat for me. Bring a life jacket. I anchored to shore in a back eddy (watch out for the poison ivy) and threw out the sturgeon rod for a couple hours and got skunked, but watched a friend pull out what looked to be close to a 9ft sturgeon up river from me using smelt. This is my first time on my boat on the river and with high waters found an average of 13 ft depth before the first rapids, with the exception of a small 25ft deep hole near the dam and a 1/4 mile long trench in the river with a depth of 55-75ft on a section of river 40 yards across. I thought my depth finder was broken but i confirmed it with another boater and his depth finder. Heard from others that the bass were slow and just waiting for the river to settle down.

Went cat fishing above the dam at Swan Falls at night for about two hours, had 4 poles in the water between the two of us and not a single bite. Water temperature seemed very cold still, as was the outside temperature, and there was some debris floating. Tried using cut bait and also some worms, hoping to get some bluegill. Got skunked :(

River flows are still high bringing unwanted debris down river making it hard for trolling or casting a spinner or anything else. I suggest sticking to Catfishing or some bait on bottom or drifting till the river flows come down and rivers clean up.

Fishing Report for 09/27/2010
Water levels have been up and down. Water seems to be to high for the cats and good for the bass. The fishing seems to better on calm nights and under a full moon if you want to catch "BIG" catfish.....bugs have been nasty on shore take the skeeter spray.

Went bowfishing below Swan Falls Reservoir Dam. Tons of carp there, but really tough shooting. The water is crystal clear making it really tough for me to judge the depth of the fish. Some real hogs lurk down there!
