I fished Sunday and Monday for bass and trout. I didn't catch a single fish on Sunday, but I fished the morning and afternoon. Apparently, there's a 2:30pm bite at Wapato Lake that lasts for a few hours. The regulars don't even go fishing in the morning or night, they just wait until about 2 or 3.

If you want largemouth bass, there are some real lunkers near the swampy reeds at the north-eastern corner of the lake. Trout are off the western side just past the orange buoy and they're good size, use marshmallows or powerbait, something that can float off the bottom. There are smallmouth all around the lake, anywhere you see reeds. I pulled a 3.5lb, 18 inch smallmouth from shore off the rocks near the orange buoy. I caught 3 bass right there using a Powerbait soft plastic crawdad, flicking it up along the bottom.

I was fishing for large or small mouth bass, and caught two little guys. everyone who was fishing for trout was doing great.

People are pulling out a lot of good size trout.

We didn't have any luck with bass, though we saw a lot of smallmouth along the reeds on the northern end of the lake.
