Again, fishing was great! Shallow weedbeds seemed to hold the fish, and fast-moving baits caught them. I had 2 largemouth in the 2-3 lb. class come off when they jumped, and the perch and pickerel were hitting the lures, too.

I thought I'd pull into the river to try to get away from the wind - I did, but because of all of the rain we've had, the water is still high, and with the dams open, the current is also about 2 MPH above normal, which makes the bass fishing horrible. Hopefully, the weather takes a turn and things stabilize soon...

Where there's weeds, there's fish. Got a few hits on a creature bait but no fish to show for it. Landed a pickerel on a square-bill crankbait. Look for the warming weather to bring some better fishing action.

Same thing as Opechee - Nothing was shallow - I tried to pick apart some weedbeds with soft plastics and spinnerbaits to no avail, and in the one area where the river deepens out, I saw fish on the sonar in 17 feet of water, but I couldn't make them bite. I tried some tubes at the depth the fish were at, as well as just above them, but nothing.

Again, creatures and tubes worked in 3-5 feet of water, tight into the weeds, and spinnerbaits apparently are a yellow perch favorite. Try to stay in the cutbacks where the current is almost absent and the bass will be there, waiting in the weeds. Fish the grass and catch the bass!

OK, see a pattern? I couldn't, that's why I got blanked. If it gets too windy, or I have trouble making catches out on the lakes, I can usually come to the river and develop something to go on. Normally, bass hang right around the railroad trestle pilings, or along the weeds near the Bisson Ave. side. Typically spinnerbaits in the weeds or soft plastics near all the structure work, but nothing. Not even a bit. I can't even think of advice to give on this one.

I got a couple bites - one on a small 1/8 oz. spinnerbait, the other on a tube. With the water level low, the current has gone down, and the bass are tucked up underneath the docks and boathouses. Look for bass to be sitting on the downstream edge of weedbeds - where the cabbage forms a canopy in the current is best. Soft plastics, jigs and tubes are the easiest to fish, and they are all producing.

Lots of good bites - I used crankbaits and tubes to fish from 6 to 20 feet of water, and had decent bites throughout the water column. The water is warming up, but clear, so the bass are remaining in deeper areas, or mid-level depths with lots of cover. You'll find that spinnerbaits, deep crankbaits and tubes were working very well.
