Fishing Report for 08/15/2010
There's a pier at the mouth of Bass River in Yarmouth. There's a parking lot and its a flat rate of $15 to park or use the beach or fish. The beach is called Smugglers' Beach. The tidal flow concentrate a lot of bait fish and game fish where it empties into Nantuckett Sound. Everyone I talked to recommended sea worms in order to catch scup (aka porgy), which were in quite an abundant supply at this point in August.
I found the bait fish and crabs devoured the sea worms before I could make a catch and thus switched to squid. Caught a couple of scup and a sand shark over two days. I hear there are blues and stripers at other points in the year.
