I live on a Lake where Muskies are located, but I rarely see them... illusive fish. A few years ago i caught a little silver musky (more rare musky), but never got a picture or anything. This guy, Matt, that I usto live next to until he moved, did nothing but Musky fish. He was catching 53" Muskies right directly in front on my house, on this reef I fish for walleyes all the time..... Another guy was crappie fishing and landed a 48" Musky, with a jig and a minnow... One of the more interesting Musky tips Ive gotten was Towards the end of fall when the edges of the lakes start to freeze out about 15' 20' troll along the edge of the ice....

I prefer to drift for Muskies casting out towards weed beds, reeling in with a few jerks of the rod along the way. Then of course, the figure 8, when i get up to the boat. I know Muskies like there bait fish to look semi- injured.
I love fishing for Northern, around where I fish I am way more likely to catch one of them then a musky. When I fish for Northern I love to troll. A few of my favorite lakes that I fish on are really narrow lakes lined with weeds on the edges. I just troll through the middle and wait for it !!! Rappalas and top lures is what I usually use. Rappalas hook the fish better....I really like the top lures because you can see the fish jump out of the water, and I have had some huge strikes on the top lures, but the blade that spins is always in the way and they miss the hook.......
