Good time to go out Northern/Muskie fishing is when the ice is just starting to build on shore, go out and troll the edge.

Went fishing up on Wolf Lake this weekend. Didnt have much luck, the later in the day it got the more they were biting. Saw some monster Northerns surfacing all day.... caught a little 13" walleye. Boyfriend pulled a nice Northern up to the boat and lost it...then caught a 18" Nothern.

For the dedicated Northern Pike fishers out there. Gotta love them Pike. Here in Minnesota is all about the Walleyes. There are one of the most illusive freshwater fish. But everybodys about the Walleyes......More and more I love them Northern. The world record Walleye is like 22 pounds..... The world record Northern Pike is like 55 pounds. The northern on the other hand, are easier to find and put up a good fight usually. I have never really caught a Walleye on a surface lure, not a keeper size anyway. I would way rather reel in a 50+ pound Northern then a 22 pound Walleye. I have seen some huge snakes strike my top lures thats what keeps me fishing for them. Any body know an extremely easy way to get those Y bones out?!
